When we remodeled our kitchen, I wanted a little bar area with open shelving above it. Once completed…I needed to figure out how to style these said shelves, and I struggled for a little while. I was using too much color, not placing the items well. Then I got simple. I went with neutral colors. Bought brass pieces, some white vases, and fake plants. I linked very similar pieces above, most less than 20 dollars! Can’t forget the books we got at Goodwill for a few bucks. They literally were only purchased for this shelf, and have never been read. I should maybe at least get some food related books, but for now, this is fine!

Also, we don’t drink alcohol at all, the moscow mule mugs are only for show;)

Cutting boards are always a good addition to open shelving. I love natural wood pieces! I don’t personally have the white dish set out, but that’s because we don’t have a ton of space.

Always place shorter items next to taller ones. You don’t want to plop two pieces of similar heights right next to each other without breaking it up with a smaller piece in between or in front of it.

I use fake greenery because 1. they won’t die, and 2. I feel like they won’t attract any bug life. I don’t want any bug life in my kitchen area. More than other areas:)

Hope this inspires you if you have open shelves you want to style! If you use any of my tips, let me know, and if you have any ideas of your own…let me know! Thanks for reading, and I hope you have a great week!
