I am so in love with these pictures, Jake’s sister and her hubby own this BEAUTIFUL greenhouse, Hamilton Nursery & Landscaping, and it is totally my happy place! Our photographer, Tonya Dixon, continues to be amazing at capturing all our memories. Crew wasn’t really into smiling very much, but she sure did love looking around and fake laughing SOO hard the second the camera would get put down. Kids have spidey senses when it comes to us needing them to do something….and they refuse to do it when needed. Jake hurt his back earlier last week…at work. He was typing…and he turned to grab a piece of paper and plumb blew his back out. Now he wobbles around like an old man and can’t even pick Crew up off the ground, I have to hand her to him. He’s also been stretching on our dining room floor and he is NOT flexible, so of course I have been filming and mocking him mercilessly. Who hurts that back doing essentially nothing?! It’s been a fun target for how old he is getting;) And it made this photo shoot much more difficult!
I really wanted a romantic picture with me swept up into Jake’s arms, us staring arduously into each others eyes. Alas I was not able to get my wish because of the ol’ back strain. So we had to settle on forehead to forehead contact, staring deep into each others soul, falling even more in love. And when I look at the pictures, I feel like that’s exactly what was happening! But the truth of matter is, it wasn’t romantic at all. When you put your head to someone else’s and look, their two eyes turn into one big eyeball, like a Cyclops. And this is what we were discussing during those few whimsical shots where it appears Cupid MUST have been sitting on one of the branches out there, shooting us both straight through the heart with amorous arrows. Basically pictures are a lie.
But what isn’t a lie is how insanely in love I am with these two humans. And how shocked I am that my precious little girl, who was born, it seems like just yesterday, is going to be ONE in a few days! It breaks my heart that time moves so quickly. Every second of every day is so fun and joyous, and I love all the changes I see in her personality…I just wish these moments could last longer. My mom told me when I first had Crew to remember every second, and to cuddle her close and cherish the newborn phase, because it would be gone in an instant. She was so right. From one day to the next she went from an infant that slept in my arms and on my chest constantly, to a baby that was cooing and smiling, and now a mover and a groover that babbles all day long. Everyone says it, and it’s the truth; time flies.
